3 Things To Know About the New Google My Business for Agencies & Platform Partners

As a local business’ best friend on the internet, for three years Google My Business has helped thousands of brands and companies get found online through a simple and easily manageable interface. From a small local business standpoint, the benefits of having a Google My Business profile cannot be understated. Not only will it give your company prime real estate space on the search results, but it’s also free.

It’s important to note, though, that as search engine results change, so should your strategy. And that’s why having a trusted and knowledgeable SEM company and digital marketing agency by your side is crucial when managing a Google My Business listing.

Whether you are a small local business looking to boost your online presence, or an agency looking to better your clients, listen carefully as we delve into the new Google My Business for agencies and platform partners.

The New Agency Dashboard

Launched on May 1st, 2018, a new and improved Agency Dashboard now allows registered agencies and premier partners to manage all of their locations under one account, whereas before each account was limited to 100 locations. The new dashboard also makes sending and receiving invitations to manage Google listings incredibly easy, as you can view the status of the requests right within the agency dashboard.

Location and user groups have been added, replacing the old grouping system (business account). Both location and user groups enable agencies to sort multiple locations and users into groups for more streamlined management. Agencies and their clients will now be able to interact with one another by managing Google My Business listings together.

Google My Business API

Google My Business API has been updated too, with new features that appear to have been designed with agency and platform companies in mind. Aside from the new agency dashboard, the latest API updates include sections for merchant descriptions and store opening dates.

The Launch of the Partners Program

In addition to the new agency dashboard and its additional updates to the Google My Business API, Google has also announced a directory of trusted partners for GMB local search. The Google Trusted Partners Directory, part of Google’s new program called the Google My Business Partners program, will contain trusted partners for business owners to choose from should they need help managing their GMB listings.

How does an agency join the GMB Partners program? Google has yet to confirm, but has stated that trusted partners will be eligible for early access to all of the new Google My Business features (the Partners program included).

Are you registered with the latest version of GMB? Let us recap some of the most significant benefits your company can receive when you sign up.
