A source informed 1SEO.com that Google is wrapping up recruitment for the launch of Google’s Home Service ads in the greater Chicago metro area. This indicates Google is preparing to launch the search feature for this market in the immediate future.

Since August 2015, Google has been partnering with local businesses in California to display the ads for relevant queries. Recruitment was completed towards the end of June in Philadelphia, where testing also got underway.

If a similar recruitment process occurred in Chicago, Google probably reached out directly to 30-40 companies that were considered recognized and trusted in their market. It’s likely those businesses included handymen, locksmiths, electricians, plumbers and other home service providers.

The ads in California and Philadelphia are displayed in search results in a pack of three with a map of the service area. Although the feature currently only shows up in these areas, Google plans to expand it nationwide by the end of 2017.

In Chicago, participating businesses needed to undergo background checks, obtain the proper licenses and insurance, and be evaluated by undercover shoppers. After passing these screenings, businesses were then able to partner with Google.

This feature will let Chicago businesses directly connect with customers via calls and web-based leads. Similarly, users will be able to leave reviews and place requests—all from the search results page.

When Chicago companies partner with Google, they’ll receive the “Google guaranteed” tag under their brand name. This way, consumers will be able to recognize when a company is backed by the Google guarantee—which means the job is guaranteed to be done right or your money back.
